Rescues, Justice & deliverence

From rescues, to physical healings, to God stopping for the one in the most desperate moments, Jesus is moving in Cambodia! And your prayers and support are right in the middle of it all! Here is our latest update.

Healing Rains

From July to September, some of our team were blessed to attend Iris events in the USA and Malaysia. A few of our members received ordination, prayer, and commissioning from Iris global leaders. One gathering was just for leaders from closed nations in the region – seeing their passion and love for Jesus in the middle of intense persecution was both humbling and deeply inspiring.

Since the summer there has been great unrest along the Thai–Cambodia border. Many are wrestling with fear and anger over what’s happening. Our hearts break for everyone affected, yet we’re seeing God use it to draw people to the peace and security that only He can give. We’ve hosted several prayer and worship nights focused on the situation and we’re trusting Him to have His way.

The Power of Discipleship

Discipleship is one of our main focuses because we know real community transformation happens through the gospel. We now have groups running in four different communities! True Light discipleship has been going for a few months and the fruit is beautiful. One woman cut off her red religious bracelets, another’s little business is flourishing because she prays over it every day, and these precious friends keep showing up faithfully – even in pouring monsoon rain.

Our social workers took a Riverside family to church one Sunday and every single one of them gave their lives to Jesus! Our Riverside co-leader is often picking up whole families on Sundays and bringing them to his church. So many in our communities can’t read, so the audio (solar) Bibles have been an absolute treasure. They’re hungry for the Word – they finish one and immediately ask for more because their neighbours want to listen too!

God is Moving

Every week we hear fresh testimonies of healing. Just a few recent ones:

  • In one community a lady in our discipleship group shared that God completely healed her digestion, took away her diabetes, and brought her high blood pressure back to normal.

  • In a different community the mother of four of our regular kids went missing. The children and our team prayed every day – and she came home safe! Another woman with severe heart problems was healed the moment she received prayer in Jesus’ name.

It’s so exciting to watch these brand-new disciples pray for others in their communities and see Jesus heal through their hands. Their faith and confidence in who they are in Christ is growing before our eyes.

Rescues, Justice & Deliverance

Our red-light outreach team keeps contending in prayer for the girls we love so much. We’ve been walking closely with a group of young girls from one area, and one 13-year-old is especially close to our hearts. She often comes to our English classes. The situation is incredibly complex and we’ve been working tirelessly to get her out, but we recently learned of fresh abuse. Please, please pray with us for a miraculous breakthrough so we can move her to safety. She’s still in regular contact and our team is pouring love into her and many others.

Before every outreach we pray, and God keeps giving us the clearest words of knowledge about where to go. One night we sensed “a pearl inside a shell.” That same evening we met a girl whose nails were decorated with tiny shells – each holding a little pearl! She has since started coming to English class, is growing in faith, and now wants to leave the bars for good.

The Power of Social Media

A South American couple who had been trafficked into Cambodia and trapped in a huge scam compound reached out through our Iris Phnom Penh Instagram. Our team quickly arranged a safe house, have been visiting them weekly, and taking them to church. They’re growing in faith, feeling truly loved, and waiting safely to return home.

Hosting in the City

Having the Chomno Coffee Company location has been such a gift! Because of the sensitive nature of our work we can’t bring people to our homes, but the café feels like an extension of home right in the heart of the darkness. It really is a beacon. We host worship nights there once a week and the atmosphere is noticeably lighter than anywhere else on the riverside. Together with “The Well” prayer house, these two spaces have brought a huge increase in prayer and worship in that part of the city – and it’s making a difference.

Stopping for the One

In one community a lady from our discipleship group needed an emergency C-section but had no blood donors – the hospital needed at least four units. Our Set-Free team dropped everything, went straight to the hospital, and every one of them donated blood. Mum and her beautiful baby are now doing well and have a powerful testimony of Jesus’ love!

At the beginning of August our team met a homeless mum with six children living under a tree, using rubbish bins as “walls” when it rained. The smell was awful and the children were constantly sick with skin sores and diarrhoea. The youngest, only 15 months old, looked deathly ill – pale, unresponsive, with silent cries. The team rushed him to hospital where he was admitted and treated for severe pneumonia. After lots of prayer and antibiotics he made a full recovery and is now a lively, happy little boy! We’ve found the family safe housing and will keep supporting them until they’re steady on their feet. With tears the mum told us, “God has answered my prayers!”

We also visited one of our youth girls we’d referred to Citypoint (an NGO). She arrived illiterate – now she reads and writes English and Khmer and is bursting with joy and hope. We don’t always get to see the long-term fruit, so moments like this remind us how life-changing these partnerships are.

Our Social-Work Heroes

Our social workers are incredible. They’re constantly receiving referrals of children in desperate need. Whenever possible they work to keep families together, but sometimes parents are trapped in addiction and unwilling to change. In those cases our team finds safe, loving Christian homes. It’s hard, slow work, but every child in a safe place makes it worth it.

One young lady we’ve walked with this quarter was sold and abused from the age of seven. We placed her in a wonderful Christian residential centre, but years of trauma made settling almost impossible. Time and again our team visited, loved her, and talked her down from running away. Finally she’s beginning to settle – learning life skills, receiving counselling, and discovering a future full of hope.

Thank you for partnering with us in prayer and love – together we’re watching the Kingdom advance, one precious life at a time. We can’t wait to see what He does next!

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray for our discipleship groups, that new believers would grow strong in their faith and come know Jesus deeply.

  • Please pray for the vocational training programme that will soon be starting at the cafe for young people.

  • Pray for our team, it has been a very full and busy season, that we would continue to come to Jesus our source for everything.
